But they clearly decrease the writing quality and removes too much design flexibility, and I don't mention the pointless cost that would be better spend elsewhere.Ībout provisions, survival/resources/economy management, this is an element the game tried setup but failed to end with something close to void. Alas I suppose it's important for much more players. I mean few new events and secondary quests and some new items (like non metallic stuff) and NPC could be added, mainly a bit more in chapter 1 and 4, not sure for the 5 I'm finishing.īut I 100% disagree on the vocals, they are a huge letdown for me. Yeah a sequel first, and with the idea to rework the game a bit, and add a new chapter. its a good start and I'm not the only one who would like to see more! You'll be competing against warmachine tactics, unsung story, and anything else that crawls out of the woodwork in 2014 but I'd still consider kicking some funds to the kickstarter for your next game You guys have a good formula, nice grid based combat, great voice acting. More allied characters, or the ability to hire then develop them in the way that you see in other tactical rpg games I'd like to see combat re-balanced in order to make many different MC builds equally powerful in the endgame lots of multi stage areas where provisions become a key way to keep your group alive. I'd like to see more levels like the goblin tower, the prison, the forest. It would be really cool to see quest paths that cut off others due to moral choices made during the resolution of the quest. preferably not as costly DLC content.įor a sequel I'd like to see a larger map with more quests and interactions with characters. I'd really like to see a sequel as well AND expansion content to this one to tide us over. Highlight later the consequences of choices, don't have the players either reload or replay the whole game to realize they made a real choice. The reason is if the choices are good/evil, many players will just feel forced to not take the evil choice and will end with a game with half choices. Even morale should be avoided to design different choices, if morale is involved then it should be only gray morale choices. Roughly equal positive and negative rewards for all choices of a dialog, choices just need be choices. No challenge through dialog choices, never ever. The good way is rather simple to sumarize, harder to implement, there's just two rules: There are other ways to implement choices and if BGD2 would use the right one it would be great. The choices in The Banner are for most under the banner of fatality, there's a close similarity with "books where you are the hero" but extended at the size of a video game and with many more elements. Lay waste to your enemies with powerful spells and abilities. The Banner Saga is a rather special game, I do hope they'll do the whole trilogy.
